Boulder Report: Start the Fireworks

A source of great amusement to me: the Tour de France, like most sporting events, exists because of sponsors who are paying, essentially, for media coverage. So I love that the ASO’s telecommunications partner, the French telecom Orange, charges E600 (about $1,000), per journalist, for wireless access in the press room. Only the French would charge journalists to cover an event that relies on media coverage.

ASO(Tour de France主催者)公認の通信事業者「Orance」は、記者一人当たり600ユーロ(約1000ドル)を課金しているそうな。

この手の催し物で記者に通信料金を請求するのはフランスくらいじゃないの？　とこの記者は言ってる。

ちなみにTour of Californiaは記者だけではなく一般の人にも無線LANは無料で解放されていた。
